The Role

Lumen Technologies is seeking a Lead Information Security Engineer who can help design, engineer, build, deploy, and support infrastructure solutions that expand visibility for searching out and identifying cyber threats both on-premises and in cloud environments.

This is a remote position open to candidates based anywhere in the U.S.

The Main Responsibilities

  • Investigate, engineer, deploy, troubleshoot, & support technologies to monitor network and host systems, on premise and in a cloud environment, for cyber threats and alert incident response.
  • Collaborate with other Lumen organizations and teams for support in meeting team goals (e.g. system deployment).
  • Perform system and application administration for Corporate Security infrastructure to ensure availability, capability, and stability required to support incident response functions.
  • Perform system and application tuning for maximum effectiveness and minimizing false notifications
  • Automation of work functions and capabilities
  • Assist with management of vendors for meeting Lumen needs and improving capabilities
  • Develop and maintain metrics that show value and improvement for technologies and processes.
  • Create and analyze utilization statistics of systems to identify causes for system degradations as well as recommend required system enhancements for business case and budget approval.
  • Perform upgrading, patching, hardening, user access permissions, and routine maintenance of Security infrastructure systems (Linux & Windows)
  • Develop and support tools and programs for other Information Security teams
  • Develop / modify and follow associated corporate and workgroup processes applicable to the role (e.g. change and outage management).

What We Look For in a Candidate

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, related field, or equivalent experience. Typically with 8+ years of experience. 6+ years of experience with Master's Degree.
  • Five years' experience deploying, configuring, supporting security controls (EDR, NDR).
  • Four years of relevant security & computing system administration, virtualization, configuration, and support experience of Linux systems.
  • Two years of network design, support, and troubleshooting (router, firewall, switch, TAP, …) experience
  • Excellent understanding of common computing platforms, including Windows, Linux, and vendor specific appliances.
  • Experience in analyzing general system processing throughput, utilization, and capacity.
  • Strong work ethic, demonstrated self-starter, ability to work in a fast paced, team-oriented environment with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Security Information Event Manager (SIEM) experience.
  • Application and/or scripting development experience
  • Experience with large enterprise data centers and/or networks.
  • Experience with cloud service provider networking.

Compensation: This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.

Location Based Pay Ranges: $103,711 - $138,281 in these states: AL, AR, AZ, FL, GA, IA, ID, IN, KS, KY, LA, ME, MO, MS, MT, ND, NE, NM, OH, OK, PA, SC, SD, TN, UT, VT, WI, WV, and WY. $108,896 - $145,195 in these states: CO, HI, MI, MN, NC, NH, NV, OR, and RI. $114,082 - $152,109 in these states: AK, CA, CT, DC, DE, IL, MA, MD, NJ, NY, TX, VA, and WA
