A client of Innova Solutions is immediately hiring for a Java Backend Engineer position. Position type: Fulltime Contract Duration: 6 months Location: Minneapolis, MN (Hybrid)

Job Description: You will play a key role in shaping application architecture, translating abstract concepts into concrete designs, and leading implementation efforts. This role demands strong programming expertise, architectural insight, and a proactive approach to solving complex technical challenges. You will lead code reviews, testing, and debugging activities, while embedding data quality and observability across services. Rotating on-call support is required to ensure 24x7 product availability.

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years of backend development experience in enterprise environments.
• Strong proficiency in Kotlin and frameworks like Micronaut or Spring Boot.
• Experience with Kafka, DevOps tools, and observability platforms (OpenTelemetry, Grafana).
• Skilled in test-driven development (JUnit, K6) and container orchestration.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Passion for clean, maintainable code and system reliability.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with Git workflows, Agile methodologies, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Knowledge of NoSQL databases and advanced architectural patterns (CQRS, event sourcing).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated end-to-end testing.
• Exposure to intelligent systems and AI-assisted development tools.

Engineering Environment:

• Microservices architecture using Kotlin, Spring Boot/Micronaut.
• Event-driven systems built on Kafka.
• CI/CD pipelines with high automation and observability.
• Cloud-ready applications deployed on in-prem infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop new features and services.
• Build Kafka producers/consumers.
• Maintain high test coverage and code quality.
• Participate in on-call rotations and support operational processes.

Pay Range*: $70 - $80/per hour *Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidates education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.
