Financial Assistance Supervisor - Health & Human Services

Join a team that makes a difference every day! Carver County is accepting applications for a Financial Assistance Supervisor in the Health & Human Services division. Under the direction of the Health and Human Services Income Support Manager, this position has overall responsibility for leading and managing a unit of frontline workers who determine financial eligibility for public assistance cases. The supervisor plays a vital role in this unit and is responsible for working with Health and Human Services leadership to sustain a culture of inclusiveness and accountability. This is a high-demand, fast-paced position that requires a leader with excellent written skills, is fastidious, and has an ability to communicate accurately, timely, and with transparency. The Financial Assistance Supervisor must ensure compliance with County objectives and applicable statutes, mandates, regulations, policies, and procedures. The candidate must possess a "can do" attitude, demonstrate organizational skills, and be able to work independently within the constructs of the role. This position is expected to work in the office located at the Chaska Government Center and/or at community sites. After successfully completing the twelve-month probationary period, this position will have some flexibility to work remotely.

Typical duties and responsibilities include: supervising, monitoring, training, and evaluating the performance of fraud investigation and eligibility workers involved in the initial and ongoing determination of client eligibility for financial assistance and medical assistance programs; planning and overseeing the delivery of Financial Assistance and Medical Assistance services in accordance with County plans, budgets, state, federal laws and regulations; participating in the administration and management of the Income Support Department within the Health and Human Services division; performing and conducting various public relations activities and responsibilities to provide current information concerning public and medical assistance programs; overseeing and coordinating the training of staff and others in the unit with respect to changes and trends pertaining to the work of the unit; conducting fiscal and program reporting; and performing other duties of a comparable level or type.

Minimum qualifications include: a high school diploma or GED and 4 years direct work experience in the financial assistance area; or a 2 year vocational program certification and 2 years direct work experience in the financial assistance area; and a valid MN driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility.

Scored examination process: All applications will be screened for minimum qualifications, scored and ranked. The highest ranked candidates meeting minimum qualifications will be recommended for the scored oral examinations (interviews). Final selection for the position will include successful completion of oral interview(s), reference checks, and background investigation.
