Purpose of Job Hands-on development of HL7, flat file, and web service integrations in a medium-sized health care system. The Enterprise Integration Engineer position will be filled by someone who enjoys navigating a broad breadth of health care information to facilitate clinical and business workflows. You will work directly with clinical and business leaders in the organization to understand the requirements of integrations and play a vital role in assessing impacts to workflows and other systems. You will work with other integration engineers to design, build, validate, and audit integrations to ensure data is flowing accurately and efficiently.
Develop trusted relationships with clinical and business users to understand workflows and design integrations to facilitate essential data needs and provide optimization for end-users. Ability to work with a Project Manager, Business Analyst or independently to deliver integrations. Interpret specifications for integrations, advising on best practices and impacts to clinical and business processes/workflows. Document interface architectural design, data flow, and pseudo code for interfaces. Facilitate the setup of secure communications with other areas of IT, as needed. Develop and unit test interfaces using Corepoint and Epic Bridges. Collaborate on user/system validation to ensure satisfaction of specifications and data accuracy. Implement (hands-on) developed interfaces and oversee end-to-end implementation with users. Help establish, update, and adhere to established data architecture practices, standards, and processes. Monitor and respond to interface errors for interfaces developed across the team. Provide after-hours support coverage on a rotational basis. Review, assess, and develop enhancements to existing interfaces. Support existing integration infrastructure including validation and interface modifications for system upgrades. Participate in and facilitate change requests through the IT Change control process. Provide mentorship and guidance to integration engineers on the team in design standards, critical thinking/problem solving, and upholding the team culture and brand.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent work experience. 5+ years of experience working within an IT department. 5+ years of experience with interfaces/integrations. Expert with HL7 Interfaces (e.g., ADT, ORM, ORU, DFT, RDE, MDM). Strong experience with Interface Engines (e.g., Corepoint, Rhapsody, or Cloverleaf). Ability to create and leverage SQL queries in the process of discover, build, and validating interfaces. Knowledge of Enterprise wide SFTP, VPN, TLS methods for secure communications.
Strong ability to see business needs from the user point of view and translate those needs into a technical solution. Ability to apply facilitation, critical thinking and excellent leadership skills with stakeholders to clarify, understand, and document detailed requirements. Ability to communicate to all levels of the organization and clearly articulate business needs to internal partners and external vendors. Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned above. Preferred Qualifications Corepoint Interface Engine Working knowledge of Epic Bridges Working knowledge of EDI (e.g., 270, 271, 810, 832, 850, 855) Scripting Language Skills - (Powershell, TCL, PERL, C-SHELL) Knowledge of Web based programming a plus, and/or C## or .Net skills Familiarity with Epic Care Electronic Health Record SQL objec and Metadata management (Creating/dropping tables, writing stored procedures/views, etc.) is a plus.
