Engineering Supervisor
Egan Company is seeking experienced candidates for an Engineering Supervisor role within our Service team in Champlin, MN. The Engineering Supervisor is responsible for leading the Engineering team focused on Fire, Security, and Data systems.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the Engineering Supervisor include, but are not limited to the following:
- Engineering & Technical Oversight
- Serve as a hands-on engineer, performing technical design tasks and projects within the System Designer role as needed, with supervisory duties accounting for approximately 20% of the workload.
- Review estimates, designs, logic, and graphics to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Support business growth in the ATS Technology Limited Energy systems installations.
- Influence sales development and directions from an Engineering and Estimating standpoint.
- Plan and direct Engineering and other team members in the design, design support of field personnel, and Specification and code driven as-builts.
- Oversee the allocation of resources to deliver engineering work that meets both project deadlines and customer requirements.
- Work directly with Project Management on the overall scheduling, based on resource availability, including leading planning meetings to assign engineers to a project team.
- Manage and maintain schedules and workflows through the Monday.com platform to support engineering and project functions.
- Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach, and mentor a team of engineering based roles in Fire, Security, and Data systems.
- Coordinate and direct the activities of all Engineering team members.
- Assist with the hiring and onboarding of new team members.
- Conduct one-on-one meetings and annual performance reviews to promote accountability, communication, and professional growth.
- Facilitate team meetings and communicate all necessary information, keeping the team informed.
- Determine consistent remote work schedules that align with company policy and ensure adequate in-office coverage.
- Process Improvement & Innovation
- Develop, implement, and maintain engineering standards, tools, and processes to ensure high-quality, consistent design documentation across all disciplines within the engineering team.
- Establish and maintain design time benchmarks by analyzing and understanding existing engineering processes.
- Optimize and track target engineering hours to enhance team efficiency, including assisting with the development of a system Estimators and Account Managers can use to estimate engineering time for proposals.
- Develop and maintain KPIs for each Engineering role.
- Determine methods and procedures for testing products or systems.
Requirements
10+ years of related experience in a Limited Energy Engineering capacity with projects related to Fire, Security and/or Data industry, required.
A four-year Engineering degree is preferred or equivalent career experience.
Qualifications
Engineering Supervision experience is highly preferred. Knowledge of Electrical Code, Fire Code, safety regulations, policies, and procedures. Previous Limited Energy systems Hardware Design and systems programming is required. Experience in the use of CAD is required. Previous area of focus in Design Services within the construction industry. Familiarity with Google Suite- including Sheets, Docs, Gmail and Drive, as well as knowledge of Microsoft Office. Strong team-oriented demeanor and ability to communicate effectively with internal and external clients. Ability to do the following:
- Understand prints and build specifications.
- Lead a team of 2 to 10 engineers.
- Complete tasks with limited supervision.
- Prepare routine administrative paperwork.
- Detect problems and report information to appropriate team members.
- Work openly and honestly with other group management members and the Operations Manager.
- Effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
- Occasional Travel outside of Minnesota.
- Must be able and willing to travel to jobsites and customer sites as required.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
Working Conditions
Performance of duties will be mainly in the office, with visits to jobsites and customer sites as needed. Ability to stand or sit for extended periods. Exposure to loud noise, dirt, and exposure to the elements are to be expected on job sites. Climbing ladders/stairs, uneven ground, bending, kneeling, and twisting are to be expected on job sites. Some travel may be required for international/national customers and participation in the trade shows.

Salary Range
$90,000-$105,000 (subject to such factors as experience, education, and/or skill set) plus potential annual discretionary bonus.
