Operations Manager - Central Sterile Processing
Fairview has an immediate opening for an Operations Manager - Central Sterile Processing at the University of Minnesota Medical Center - East Bank. This is a 1.0 FTE (80 hours per two week pay period), benefits-eligible opening. The CSP Operations Manager is responsible for the management of daily operations of the System Central Sterile Services Department to include all sterile processing, decontamination, inventory control, distribution, employee training and quality control. Provides oversight and direction to the System Sterilization Oversight Committee that directs standardization of the Fairview System sterilization processes, policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Assumes responsibility for the operation of the System Central Sterile Services Department. Manages the overall operation and activities of the unit.
- Recommends and formulates necessary policies that assures compliance with state/federal guidelines, which govern the management of the program and coordinates with Fairview policies.
- Determines staffing needs as evidenced by budgetary analysis and/or department indicators on an ongoing basis, providing an appropriate number, mix and selection of competent staff.
- Manages the production schedule to ensure the hospitals' surgical instruments, linen, metal ware, implants, and sterile product needs are on time, sterile, functional and complete.
- Ensures employees are meeting their daily productivity measures.
- Manages business operations, policy development, staffing, knowledge of production, instrument tracking and surgical scheduling systems.
- Accountable for planning and financial management for the System Central Sterile Services Department.
- Ensures proper utilization of financial resources.
- Recommends plans for future developments including changes in staffing, workload, computer hardware/software, space, equipment and employee education.
- Assists the director in developing a strategic plan consistent with Fairview's long-range plan.
- Assists with the development of and manages to the department dashboard and process improvement initiatives.
- Manages finances, business planning, strategic planning, compliance with external regulatory agencies, human resources management, customer relationships, process improvement initiatives, interpersonal communication skills, knowledge of the instrument tracking system, and patient care.
Required Qualifications:
- Technical degree in Management, Surgical Technology, or Nursing.
- B.S./B.A. or six years directly applicable work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5 years experience working in sterile processing, supply chain or in the surgical services department.
- 3 years of supervisory/management experience in Supply Chain, Materials Management, Sterile Processing, Surgery or related field.
- CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician). HSPA CRCST certification is required within 12 months to continue employment.
- CHL (Certified Healthcare Leader). HSPA CHL is required within 24 months to continue employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- B.S./B.A. in Management, Business, Nursing, or related field.
- Production process experience.
- Operating Room experience.
- Six Sigma Training.
- LEAN Manufacturing.
- Instrument tracking Systems.
- HSPA CRCST, CIS, CHL.
