Children's Social Services Supervisor

The position will supervise the Adolescent Services Unit in the Children's Division. Duties of staff in the unit include on-going child protection, child welfare services, and transition age youth work. The work is fast paced and involves a mix of court and non-court involved families, kids in out-of-home placement, title IV-E reimbursement and coordination with Children's Mental Health.

The Social Services Supervisor is responsible for the administration and supervision of Community Services programs, the interpretation, assessment and recommendation of policies and the supervision of assigned staff. Work may be assigned within different community service areas and have differing missions and goals.

This position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or related field (public administration, public health, community health, environmental health, nursing, behavioral science etc.) and five years of full-time professional work experience in a public human services/public health agency and/or a private human services/public health agency that contracts services with a public agency, or equivalent. A Master's Degree in Social Work or related field may substitute for up to one year of required Social Worker experience.

These include promoting a diverse, culturally competent, and respectful workplace; demonstrating knowledge of principles, techniques, practices and ethics of social work and social work supervision; demonstrating knowledge of the federal program for social service as expressed in the Social Security Act; demonstrating knowledge of functions of other social service and financial agencies; knowledge of social and economic problems; demonstrating knowledge of the state social welfare program and laws relevant to social service programs; and demonstrating ability to translate complex information into understandable messages.

Duties and responsibilities include providing program administration, supervising assigned staff, and performing other duties as assigned.
