Associate Administrative Assistant

The Anoka County Community Social Services Department is recruiting for an Associate Administrative Assistant in the Licensed Care and Adult Services area. In this position, you will play a vital role in supporting the LCAS team members by representing the department as the first point of contact in the child care licensing unit. As an Associate Administrative Assistant, you will have the opportunity to assist members of the community as the initial connection to resources, paperwork and applications, and questions related to family child care licensing and other services provided by the department.

This part-time, non-exempt, position is located at the Anoka County Government Center.

Pay & Benefits

  • Starting Salary: $21.72 to $25.52 per hour
  • 2025 Anoka County Salary Schedule Grade 26. $45,177 to $60,964 ($21.72 to $29.31 per hour).

Work Location

  • This position will work at the Anoka County Government Center, located at 2100 3rd Avenue, Anoka, MN 55303.
  • Expected work hours are Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. 20 hours per week (Mon, Tues, Thurs)

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Be the first point of phone/email/fax for residents, professionals, and community members to learn more about family child care licensing, and direct to other county departments/community resources as requested.
  • Utilize multiple electronic computer programs/platforms such as Outlook, Word/Excel/pdf, Microsoft Teams, SSIS, RightFax, and others as needed and/or requested to research information, obtain, and convey information necessary for appropriate opening/closing of cases.
  • Scan, copy, fax, email, and file all documents/forms necessary for unit and department.
  • Create forms, minutes, notes, brochures, and other project requests.
  • Assist other units and departments with administrative duties and act as back up coverage when requested.
  • Attends and participates as a cooperative member of a diverse team in county meetings, trainings, and continuing education.
  • Help to create community partnerships and attend community outreach/education events.

Qualifications and Requirements: Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed

  • Requires a high school diploma.
  • Two years or more of full-time (2,080 annual hours) job-related experience in office support or customer service working in a call center or in a reception environment.
  • Effectively, positively, and professionally communicate and interact with the public that have diverse life experiences.
  • Computer skills such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with federal, state, and county rules and regulations.

Physical Demands and Work Conditions

  • Standard office environment.
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus, such as to work on computers.
  • Hearing abilities required for general and phone communication, signals, and machine sounds.
  • Alternating between sitting, standing, and walking daily. Occasional crouching and kneeling as required to perform job responsibilities.
  • Frequent wrist and finger manipulation to complete computer work.
  • Occasional lifting of 10-20 lbs.
  • Equipment used includes computers, phones, and standard office equipment.
