The Impact You’ll Make in This Role

As an application engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Providing global support of 3M subsidiary application engineers with regards to hearing protection products
  • Supporting current products and new product introductions (NPI) including creating user instructions, conducting customer acceptance trials, assisting with claims substantiation and documentation, and understanding and communicating customers’ needs to internal cross-functional teams
  • Working with global, regional, and local customers regarding the proper selection and use of hearing protection products
  • Supporting other aspects of the PSD product line including training and education, customer and distributor support, and support of global technical service personnel
  • Conducting customer training and industry presentations on technologies, product selection, and use of PSD products
  • Developing customer support materials including written articles, webinars, seminars, posters, datasheets, and technical data bulletins
  • Supporting field research studies

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in occupational health, safety, or a science or engineering discipline from an accredited institution (completed and verified prior to start)
  • Five (5) years of combined occupational health and safety experience and/or experience with personal protective equipment in a private, public, government, or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Master’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Safety, Environmental, or Occupational Health and Safety from an accredited institution
  • 3M application engineering experience with personal protective equipment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and be proficient at oral and written communications
  • Customer-focused self-starter who can effectively work in a fast-paced environment, with an appropriate sense of urgency

Work Location

Primary Location: 3M Center Maplewood, MN

This role follows an on-site working model, requiring the employee to work at least four days a week at the 3M Center in Maplewood, MN.

Other locations include:

  • 3M Indianapolis - 7911 Zionsville Rd
  • 3M Canada – London, Ontario

Travel: May include up to 30% domestic/international

Relocation: May be authorized

Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).

This range represents a good faith estimate for this position.
