This position has the responsibility for monitoring and enforcing parking of University of Minnesota Morris (UMM) streets and parking lots.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Qualifications: Graduation from high school plus a valid Minnesota driver's license. Proficient driving skills. Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally. Ability to exercise initiative and sound judgment and to react with discretion under varying conditions. Ability to withstand verbal confrontation from the public and to be courteous and tactful to violators. Ability to read and understand signs. Ability to write legibly and accurately record information. Ability to complete work assignments, take and understand directives. Physical and/or environmental requirements include working outdoors each day in all weather conditions, ability to walk for long periods in all weather conditions, good near and distant vision, ability to distinguish basic colors, and ability to hear conversational voices. The work also requires regular and recurring physical exertion such as long periods of standing, bending or stooping. Must be able to stand for eight (8) hours a shift. Must be able to carry 10 - 15 pounds continuously (equipment for job, belt, jacket, etc.) Must be able to lift 10 - 20 pounds regularly (signs, barricades, etc.) Must be able to move 30 - 50+ pounds occasionally (move a car or person). This position requires officer to wear a uniform. Must pass a pre-employment physical and background check.
Pay Range: $21.80 per hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience. Retirement plan options are available for Civil Service, Faculty, Labor-Represented, Professional & Administrative, and Temp Casual classifications.
