Sr. Kubernetes AKS Platform Engineer

Senior Platform Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to help build and scale our Azure Kubernetes (AKS) platform as part of a broader initiative to make our application ecosystem cloud-agnostic. This role will partner closely with an existing senior platform engineer to design, build, secure, and operate Kubernetes clusters that can be deployed consistently across Azure, AWS, and future cloud environments.

This is a hands-on engineering role, focused on infrastructure build, automation, security, and observability—not high-level architecture alone.

Build, configure, and manage Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) clusters

Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and scripting to support:

Dev, Stage, and Production environments

Reusable and repeatable deployments using a single codebase

Implement security, networking, and firewall configurations based on enterprise architecture standards

Partner with platform and infrastructure engineers to:

Maintain and operate Kubernetes clusters

Support containerized application deployments

Implement observability and monitoring from day one, including logging, metrics, and alerting

Support long-term platform reliability, scalability, and operational excellence (SRE mindset)

Collaborate with global engineering, DevOps, security, and networking teams (primarily India-based).

Skills and Requirements

Strong hands-on experience with Azure, specifically:

Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)

Azure networking and security concepts

Kubernetes expertise

Cluster build, configuration, management, and ongoing operations

Infrastructure as Code

Proven experience using Terraform (or similar IaC tools)

Ability to write reusable, environment-agnostic deployment code

Security & Networking Implementation

Experience translating security and networking requirements into code

Firewall rules, isolation, and enterprise security controls

Observability & Monitoring

Experience implementing monitoring and alerting for Kubernetes platforms

Familiarity with Elastic (preferred enterprise solution) or similar observability stacks

Senior-level experience

Typically 7–8+ years in DevOps, Platform Engineering, or SRE roles

Ability to work independently, own deliverables, and collaborate across teams Experience with AWS (EKS) or other cloud Kubernetes platforms

Cloud-agnostic platform experience (Azure + AWS + GCP or private cloud)

SRE-focused experience:

Reliability, uptime, alerting, and operational readiness

Experience building enterprise-grade platforms with strict security and compliance requirements

Familiarity with:

Prometheus / Grafana (or similar monitoring tools)

Multi-environment deployment strategies

Experience working in global/distributed teams

Prior experience helping evolve or establish a Platform or SRE function
