Quality Engineer

The Quality Engineer will be an integral part of the Quality Assurance team. The primary focus will be on supporting one of the largest customers. The role involves frequent customer interactions to handle complaints, preparing PPAP packages, collaborating with quality technicians on inspection-related activities, and providing overall support for the Quality System.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the containment and long-term resolution of customer complaints by providing systematic responses.
  • Visit customer sites as needed.
  • Inspect and check stock at the facility.
  • Interface with a variety of commercial and quality personnel from customers and North American suppliers.
  • Perform Corrective Action Requests (CAR) follow-ups and conduct visits/audits.
  • Provide backup for first article submissions.
  • Conduct studies as required.

Essential Skills

  • 5+ years of experience supporting a quality system.
  • 5+ years of experience with PPAPs.
  • 5+ years of experience with corrective actions.
  • 5+ years of experience working directly with customers and suppliers, handling customer complaints.
  • 5+ years of experience with basic inspection equipment such as micrometers and calipers.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • BS Degree in Engineering preferred, but not required.
  • Experience with traceability analysis.
  • ISO 9001 experience.
  • Experience with fasteners (metals) and/or distribution.
  • Experience with SPC software.
  • Gage calibration and Gage R&R experience.
  • Experience with APQP.
  • Six Sigma certification.
  • Supervisory experience (of Inspectors).

Work Environment

The company operates globally with a primary business model focused on supply chain management and distribution of various fastener parts for over 100 different industries. The role is primarily office-based with opportunities for local travel to customer facilities. The work environment is team-oriented and customer-focused, involving interactions with suppliers (15%), customers (35%), quality managers (10%), and quality technicians (25%).

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Minneapolis, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
