As an NPI Operations Program Manager you will be responsible for supporting small to mid-size programs through development and successful transition of new products to production manufacturing. This includes coordinating the involvement of Operations resources early in product development lifecycles to influence the design. Typical timing of engagement is Gate A to Gate D.

In this role you will participate in new business capture teams, development of Manufacturing Transition and Build Plans (MT&BP), proposals, guidance to cost estimating, establishment of baseline plans following contract award, and transition process responsibility including management of Operations functions in a matrixed environment.

You will need to be well versed in the product life cycle development process and business systems that support product development and new product transition (i.e.: SAP MRP, Project Systems, PDM, MS Project). The ability to effectively lead high performance teams consistent with Collins Aerospace corporate and Operations Core Values (the "How" of performance), will be key to your success in this position. You should be proficient in the practical application of Lean/Six Sigma or APQP principles.

The New Product Introduction environment provides opportunities to be involved early in the development cycle for new technologies and products, with direct responsibility for quality, cost, and schedule.

What You Will Do:

  • Serve as liaison between Operations, Program Management, Design Engineering, and the end customer for bids and proposals with minimal oversight from management. Capture team involvement including proposal development, oral presentations, and financial planning required.
  • Help the Development PMT through the necessary activities to plan, build and transition a new product to the full-rate manufacturing environment.
  • Develop, maintain, and communicate an accurate and achievable MT&BP.
  • Act as the primary Operations contact to the Life Cycle Program Manager, Engineering, and shared services teams to coordinate Operations support during product start-ups through transition to production.
  • Responsible for timely status reporting of Operations performance, risks, and opportunities to the Life-Cycle Program Manager and Operations management.
  • Familiar with the various aspects of the engineering design, product development, design to cost (DTC), design for manufacture (DFM), design for testability (DFT), and product prototyping processes.
  • Ensures Operations considerations such as producibility, testability, design to cost, component obsolescence, and other factors are considered early in the design development process.
  • Successfully leads or coordinates cross-functional trade studies that drive increased customer value and company profitability.
  • Accountable for the quality of new designs relative to compatibility to the intended manufacturing processes.
  • Lead or support activities involving variability reduction to identify and mitigate process and product risk (DFMEA, PFMEA, etc.).
  • Work as liaison with Test Engineering group and ensure the development of Test Equipment for programs are incorporated in a timely manner to maintain program schedule commitments.
  • Support the development of program risk management plans, identify operations risks in development and production and proactively manage risk that impacts Operations.
  • Ensure quality, cost, schedule, and inventory goals are achieved in a manner consistent with the overall business plan.
  • Strive for 100% internal and external customer satisfaction by understanding the customer's needs and providing goods and services that satisfy the customer.
  • Operate in accordance with Corporate, Operations, and Division policies and practices and in compliance with accepted business practices.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of experience in manufacturing or material and supply environment.
  • 3+ years of program or project management experience.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Program/Project management experience.
  • Experience with New Product Introductions.
  • Engineering experience, Aerospace preferred.
  • PMP Certification is valued.
  • Advanced proficiency applying Lean/Six Sigma or APQP principles.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Project and SAP or similar ERP system.

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
