Cardiac Management brings together all of our cardiac and vascular businesses into one cross-functional, collaborative operating unit to leverage the full breadth of our talent, technologies, products, services, and solutions to address the needs of customers and patients worldwide.

Cardiac Rhythm Management offers devices and therapies to treat abnormal heart rhythms, as well as cardiac diagnostic and monitoring solutions.

We are looking for a talented Principal Software Cloud Engineer for our Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) Software division. This role will be responsible for developing a cloud-native, microservice-based system.

With some strong core processes already in place using AWS, Kubernetes, Kafka, and HBase, this role seeks to round out an already high-performing team with Platform Engineering knowledge. We are building out this team to be one of the leading full-stack development teams within CRM Software.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Develop software and solutions across the stack that improve product reliability and product velocity
  • Collaborate with the team to design Simple, Scalable, and Reliable solutions that leverage our new target architecture.
  • Troubleshoot production incidents and participate in blameless post-mortems and follow-through

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • B.S./B.A. in Computer Engineering/Science or technically related
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience OR Master's degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience OR PhD with 3 years relevant experience.

Nice to Have:

  • 2+ years of experience leveraging Kafka or similar streaming technologies.
  • 2+ years using DevSecOps practices with systems/service engineering and release management.
  • Refactoring a monolith into microservices
  • Experience with monitoring stacks (ELK, Dynatrace, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, Prometheus)
  • Experience with NoSQL databases (HBase, DynamoDB)
  • Experience at a Medical Device company.

Specialized Knowledge preferred:

  • 7+ years of experience delivering software using C#, Java, or similar languages
  • 4+ years of experience in a public or private cloud environment
  • 4+ years of experience developing applications leveraging Kubernetes.
  • 4+ years of experience with CI/CD/CT pipelines and source code control and artifact tooling (git, JFrog, Artifactory, Azure DevOps)
  • Ability to participate in an on-call rotation
  • Ability to work with a globally distributed team

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$148,000.00 - $222,000.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to all regular employees: Incentive plans, 401(k) plan plus employer contribution and match, Short-term disability, Paid time off, Paid holidays, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, Employee Assistance Program, Non-qualified Retirement Plan Supplement (subject to IRS earning minimums), and Capital Accumulation Plan (available to Vice Presidents and above, or subject to IRS earning minimums).
