Criminal Intelligence Analysts are vital components of the Criminal Operations Information Section of the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA). The Criminal Intelligence Analyst I is assigned to the BCA Operations Unit which operates 24/7. The position monitors, analyzes and evaluates general criminal investigative intelligence and emergency information to prevent further crisis. The position is a point of contact for public, private, and law enforcement entities responding to all threats, emergency and disaster situations, critical incident calls, requests for information, and technical expertise and is key in deciding when to ask for and assign other state emergency resources, such as bomb squads, chemical assessment teams, and search and rescue resources. The position is expected to initiate activation of the State Emergency Operations Center when needed, facilitate a coordinated response, and maintain command until an "on-site" incident commander is identified. The position also includes intake and processing of evidence for storage, handling large amounts of currency and access to sensitive files and data.
Newly hired Operations Center Analysts will be assigned one of three shifts: Day, Evening or Night. These shifts include some weekends. Movement to different shifts is based on seniority.

Minimum Qualifications
Two (2) years of experience doing intelligence analysis related work.
BA degree in criminal justice or closely related field may substitute for one (1) year; MA degree in criminal justice or closely related field may substitute for eighteen (18) months; AA degree in criminal justice or closely related field may substitute for six (6) months

Physical Requirements
Requires occasionally moving and transporting 50-pound items and frequently moving and transporting objects such as heavy tools and heavy file boxes. This job may require positioning self to move to a significant degree across rough terrain or may involve maintaining a stationary position for extended periods.
