Auxiliary Services Specialist

The Auxiliary Services Specialist provides support services in the Inver Hills Community College campus bookstore and Central Services for students, faculty, and staff. Responsibilities include performing cashiering duties, assisting with online order fulfillment, and providing backup coverage for the coordinator during absences in the bookstore. The position also supports Central Services operations, including receiving, mailing, copy/print services, and customer service in both the Copy Center and bookstores. Additionally, this role will provide customer service and cashier support at Dakota County Technical College (DCTC) as needed.

Responsibilities include:

  • Bookstore cashier and customer service representative
  • Copy center faculty and staff order/Bookstore website orders
  • Customer service representative – copy center, mailroom, receiving
  • Assist with physical inventory in bookstore and copy center
  • Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth functioning of the department and maintain the reputation of the organization as a viable business partner.

Salary Range: $20.76 - $27.53/Hour; $43,347 - $57,483/Year.

Minimum Qualifications (Must be reflected on resume/application):

  • Customer Service Skills: Customer service skills sufficient to provide prompt, courteous, and accurate information in person, by phone, and via email.
  • Data Entry Performance: Data entry skills sufficient to accurately enter, verify, and correct information in POS, inventory, and copy/print systems.
  • Communication Skills: Communication skills sufficient to understand and convey information, follow instructions, and respond to customer questions clearly.
  • Word Processing: Word processing skills sufficient to create, edit, and format basic documents, emails, and signage.
  • Spreadsheet Skills: Spreadsheet skills sufficient to enter, track, and retrieve data such as inventory, meter readings, and cost information.
  • Math Skills: Math skills sufficient to make change, reconcile cash drawers, calculate totals, and verify counts.

Preferred Qualification:

  • Experience in retail, bookstore, or campus auxiliary operations
  • Experience operating high‑speed copiers or print/production equipment
  • Experience with inventory management, shipping/receiving, or mailroom operations
  • Experience providing work direction or training to staff or student workers
  • Experience using POS or fulfillment systems
  • Experience in a high‑volume customer service environment
  • Experience creating basic signage, displays, or simple desktop publishing

Other Requirements:

  • In accordance with the Minnesota State Vehicle Fleet Safety Program, employees driving on college/university business who use a rental or state vehicle shall be required to conform to Minnesota State's vehicle use criteria and consent to a Motor Vehicle Records check.

Work Shift (Hours / Days of work): Monday - Friday; 7:45am - 4:15am
