Event Support Lead, Chanhassen MN

This is a temporary, Civil Service position working part time for up to 6 months. Location and Work environment: Onsite in Chanhassen, MN at the University of Minnesota Landscape Arboretum Work Schedule: 19 hours per week

Primary Responsibilities

• Responsible for planning, coordinating, publicizing, and implementing special events.
• Duties may include identifying priorities, setting goals, formulating event concepts, and establishing and executing work plans for a range of customized experiences strategically designed to enhance engagement and build community.
• May oversee and have accountability for the administration of events, budget, and assigning work to personnel as needed.
• May manage vendor relationships (proposals, contract negotiation, and payments).
• Selects venues, manages catering and menu planning, schedules entertainment, plans decor, handles setup and tear down, arranges guest and room accommodations, and meeting spaces.
• Handles audiovisual equipment needs and arranges transportation and staffing.
• Coordinates stakeholder outreach and invitations, advanced and on-site registration, and post-event follow-up and evaluations.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• BA/BS degree or a combination of related education and work experience to equal at least four years
• Previous event management experience
• Previous public garden experience

About the Department

Event Support works directly with the Director of Business & Finance as well as cross functionally to develop and deliver world-class special events throughout the year at the University of Minnesota Landscape Arboretum.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $26.00 per hour, depending on education/qualifications/experience. 47.5% time, Temporary (6 months) Retirement plan options are available for Civil Service, Faculty, Labor-Represented, Professional & Administrative, and Temp Casual classifications.
