Controls Engineer

The Controls Engineer will be responsible for designing, programming, and commissioning control and automation systems. This role involves working with standard systems as orders are received and leading laboratory-level work, including prototyping and new technology vetting. The engineer will collaborate with a variety of internal resources to ensure projects remain on time and within budget.

Responsibilities

• Design and program automated equipment using Rockwell Automation, Codesys, or Exor JMobile software.
• Develop control panel and control system schematics utilizing safety circuits, PLCs, VFDs, servo drives, robotics, automation networks, and HMIs, all designed in AutoCAD Electrical software.
• Create and maintain bills of materials (BOMs) and engineering changes associated with projects, resolving job specification differences.
• Review specifications and standard practices, including internal hardwired and logic standards, general specifications, and scope of work.
• Upgrade control systems of existing equipment and integrate new/existing equipment.
• Ensure work is completed in accordance with relevant codes and with proper documentation.
• Participate in continuous improvement activities to enhance processes, efficiency, quality, and service.
• Work closely with vendors to identify appropriate equipment necessary for the project.
• Collaborate with the team to maintain project schedules, standards, and budgets.
• Provide assistance to other functional organizations such as manufacturing, assembly, customer service, and sales throughout the life of a project.

Essential Skills

• 5+ years of controls engineering experience.
• Familiarity with common US and International Codes such as NEC, UL508A, and NFPA.
• Experience with equipment specifications.
• Competence with Rockwell software and AutoCAD Electrical.
• Electrical aptitude with knowledge of controls concepts, such as motion control and functional safety.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in developing new concepts and cost-effective solutions.
• Willingness and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to travel 10-15% of the time.
• Hands-on troubleshooting experience.
• Robotics expertise.

Work Environment

The position offers a small company atmosphere with a flexible work environment, including onsite presence and hybrid work-from-home options (2-3 days per week) once acclimated.

This is a Permanent position based out of Cokato, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $130000.00/yr. Health, Dental, Vision, Life, 401k (Roth or Traditional) w/ company match, 10 Paid Holidays, PTO, Aflac, Short- & Long-Term Disability, Flexible Benefit Plan
