Note: This opportunity is designed for individuals who are enrolled in a Law Enforcement or Criminal Justice program and are currently or will be eligible to be licensed in the state of Minnesota as Peace Officers within the next two years.

Nature of Work
Community Service Officers perform general duty civilian public safety work which may consist of protecting life and property, maintaining order, preventing crimes, as well as enforcing laws and ordinances.
Work Schedule - Community Service Officers generally work 20 or 30 hours per week. Shifts are normally 10 hours. Rochester Police Department supports education. We are cognizant of academic schedules and obligations and will make every effort to accommodate student schedules. This position is subject to a 6-month probationary period.
Pay - Starting wage is $28.25 per hour. The 2026 wage range for this opportunity is $28.25 to $35.39 per hour. Five years would be required to reach the top of the range.
