Human Services Support

The third level of the Human Services Support Series is responsible for administering a defined human services function, process or service that directly supports the day-to-day operations of the human services of the County. Responsibilities may include supervising staff; identifying and proposing operational modifications; preparing and monitoring an assigned budget; assigning and reviewing work of support staff; scheduling support staff; and establishing and enforcing work procedures and processes.

Essential duties include championing an inclusive, supportive, and growth-oriented team culture; leading and supporting a designated unit; facilitating both onboarding and continuous growth within their unit; overseeing daily operations of programs and services within the unit; guiding resource planning and fiscal stewardship; building and maintaining collaborative partnerships; engaging in cross-functional leadership; ensuring data-informed practice; serving as a trusted resource and liaison; promoting a unified and professional agency culture; championing a culture of continuous improvement; providing leadership and oversight of the eligibility unit; guiding operational excellence; leading with a quality and compliance mindset; coordinating and delivering training strategies; serving as a technical and strategic resource; overseeing program-specific financial planning and resource management; acting as a key liaison for data privacy, information security, and state systems access; coordinating estate recovery processes; supporting agency adaptability and service continuity; championing a client-centered and equity-driven approach to eligibility work; and performing other duties as assigned in support of the agency's mission and client-centered service delivery.

Training and experience requirements include an associate's degree or two-year technical certificate in Social Work or related field and three years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge requirements include supervisory principles and practices, case management principles and techniques, problem solving techniques, community resources, customer service principles, computers and related software applications, applicable federal, state and local laws, codes, regulations, specialized equipment relevant to area of assignment, and modern office technology. Skill requirements include monitoring and evaluating subordinates, delegating and prioritizing work, providing customer service, providing case management services, preparing reports, using computers and related software applications, interpreting and applying applicable laws, codes, regulations and standards, utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisors, the general public and others to sufficiently exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

Physical requirements include reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Walking and standing are required only occasionally. Incumbents may be exposed to environmental conditions, such as, challenging behaviors, imminent danger, and threatening environments; incumbents may also be expected to travel to external locations/organizations.

Salary information includes a grade level of UC42 and an annual salary range of $69,555.20 - $93,475.20.
