Inside Sales Assistant

The Inside Sales Assistant supports the sales team by providing administrative, customer service, and sales support functions. This role helps ensure smooth day-to-day operations within the sales department by assisting with quotes, order entry, customer communication, and coordination between departments. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and eager to learn about the company's products and customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist inside sales representatives with preparing price quotes and processing customer orders for fasteners, hardware, and related supplies.
  • Communicate with customers by phone and email to provide order updates, product information, and delivery details.
  • Enter sales orders and quotations accurately into the company's ERP/CRM system.
  • Coordinate with warehouse, purchasing, and shipping teams to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of customer activity, pricing, and order history.
  • Monitor stock levels and assist in checking product availability for customer requests.
  • Support the outside sales team with follow-ups, sample requests, and customer documentation.
  • Provide counter sales support as needed and assist walk-in customers.
  • Perform general administrative duties such as filing, maintaining price lists, and generating sales reports.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 1+ year of experience in customer service, sales support, or administrative work (experience in industrial supply, construction, or fasteners is a plus).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-first mindset.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word); experience with ERP or CRM systems preferred.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Interest in learning about fasteners, tools, and industrial distribution.

Preferred Attributes

  • Previous experience in a fastener or industrial supply company.
  • Basic understanding of fastener types, materials, and applications.
  • Eagerness to grow into an Inside Sales Representative role.
