Training & development

Skills can be learned. We're hiring for what can't be taught — a good person who genuinely wants to help, stays coachable, and gets better every day. If you served in the military, we especially want to hear from you. That discipline, attention to detail, and professionalism doesn't go unnoticed here.

We're looking for one person — not a grease monkey, not a suit behind the counter, but someone who can do both over time. If you're good with people, take pride in your work, want to understand how vehicles work, and are looking for a real career path in the automotive industry, this role was built for you.

Midas Olympia is a locally owned shop focused on building trust, delivering a great customer experience, and growing as a full-service repair destination. We're investing in our team, our process, and our reputation — and we need someone who wants to grow with us.

Why This Role Is Different

Most shops hire technicians. Most shops hire service writers. This role is designed to develop someone across both. You'll start by learning the shop — maintenance, inspections, workflow — and over time you'll cross-train into the front counter, learning how to guide customers, communicate vehicle needs clearly, and help turn inspections into approvals and repeat business.

This is not a temp position. It's not a lube-tech dead end. It's a structured growth path into one of the most valuable roles in any auto service operation: a Service Advisor who understands what's actually happening on the lift.

What You'll Do

SHOP SIDE — WHERE YOU'LL START

• Perform oil changes, fluid services, tire rotations, and basic maintenance

• Inspect vehicles and document findings accurately and thoroughly

• Support digital vehicle inspections — photos, notes, condition ratings

• Install batteries, bulbs, filters, belts, and hoses

• Help maintain a clean, organized, and professional shop environment

• Learn shop workflow, repair order basics, and technician communication

CUSTOMER SIDE — WHERE YOU'LL GROW

• Greet customers and help create a strong first impression

• Learn to communicate inspection findings in plain, honest language

• Assist with estimates, scheduling, customer updates, and follow-up

• Help explain vehicle needs in a way that builds trust, not pressure

• Support recommendations that lead to approved work and repeat visits

• Learn the complete repair order and service advisor workflow

What We're Looking For

Automotive experience is helpful. The right attitude, communication skills, and work ethic matter more.

• You're a people person — comfortable talking to customers, easy to trust, good at listening

• You communicate clearly and confidently, without being pushy or scripted

• You have some sales or customer service experience and know how to guide a decision

• You're coachable — you take feedback, apply it, and don't make excuses

• You move with urgency and follow through on what you say you'll do

• You have mechanical interest or basic automotive aptitude

• You're dependable — the team can count on you to show up and give full effort

• You want a career, not just a paycheck

• You're professional and take pride in representing the shop well

Preferred Background

We're open to candidates from a variety of backgrounds. If you have a strong work ethic and strong people skills, we want to hear from you.

• Military veterans are strongly encouraged to apply.

The discipline, reliability, teamwork, and service mindset that come from military service are exactly what we're looking for in this role.

Other backgrounds that translate well:

• Tire/lube technicians looking to move forward in their career

• Parts store employees with strong customer interaction skills

• Dealership express techs, porters, or lot attendants

• Retail or hospitality employees with sales ability and a genuine interest in vehicles and helping people.

• Healthcare workers that are good with people and difficult situations that have sales skills.

• Anyone who has worked in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment and wants to build something real.

Success in This Role — Your First 90 Days

Here's what doing this job well actually looks like:

• You've learned our maintenance and inspection process and are completing services accurately and on time

• You're documenting vehicle condition clearly, and customers can understand what you found

• You're communicating cleanly with technicians and helping the shop move faster, not slower

• Customers leave with a positive impression — and come back

• You've started cross-training at the front counter and are learning how to walk through a repair order

• You're identifying service opportunities through inspections and communicating them professionally

• You've helped contribute to at least a few Google reviews from happy customers who felt taken care of.

Your Growth Path

This position is designed as a stepping stone — not a holding pattern. As you develop your shop knowledge and build customer trust, you'll cross-train into service writer duties with increasing responsibility. The goal is to develop you into a confident, effective Service Advisor who understands what's happening on the lift because you've worked there.

Service Advisors who know the shop are rare and valuable. We want to build one from the ground up — and we want it to be you.

Why Join Midas Olympia

• Locally owned and operated — your work matters here, and you'll be known by name

• We're growing, investing in the shop, and building a team that's in it for the long haul

• Real career development, not empty promises — we'll put your growth path in writing

• You'll work with a team that takes quality seriously and holds each other accountable

• Backed by the Midas brand — national reputation, lifetime guarantee on qualifying services, financing options

• Competitive pay commensurate with experience, with clear milestones for advancement

• A shop culture that values professionalism, communication, and doing right by the customer
