Azure Compute Capacity Optimization Team (ACCOT) Senior Software Engineer

Azure is a global cloud platform that enables individuals and organizations to achieve more. In addition to public cloud offerings, Azure also supports large-scale internal Microsoft services such as Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Office, Bing, Structured Query Language (SQL), and others. Capacity management—including workload allocation, access provisioning, and buffer maintenance—is essential to Azure’s success. To further invest in this area, we are expanding our efforts in Redmond, Washington, and seeking software engineers, data engineers, and data scientists to help enhance Azure Core’s platform capacity management and efficiency.

We are hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join the Azure Compute Capacity Optimization Team (ACCOT). In this role, you will contribute to the development of scalable capacity management services and efficiency solutions. You will work on foundational components of the Azure Control Plane, including the Azure Allocator and the Holmes service, which manage workload migration across Azure data centers. You will also engage with central capacity management systems such as Compute Capacity Central (CCC), collaborating with partner teams to track and manage capacity usage, maintain buffers, and deliver telemetry insights. Your work will help ensure workloads are allocated and migrated efficiently within and across data centers.

As part of the Azure Core team, you will collaborate with experienced software engineers, data engineers, and data scientists to solve impactful challenges. You will build services that improve customer experience and platform efficiency, while driving enhancements in availability, scalability, and operability.
