Our laboratory in Lyngby Denmark is looking for a Principal Hardware Development Engineer to join our team.

As the Principal hardware engineer, you will serve as the technical authority within our engineering team, ensuring the integrity, performance, and continuous improvement of our ultra-high vacuum (UHV) tools and related systems. Your primary responsibility is to evaluate and guide the designs created by other engineers, identifying potential risks early and ensuring robust, manufacturable solutions that meet user needs.

In addition to design oversight, you will take ownership of large-scale hardware development projects, coordinating efforts across the team and ensuring successful delivery of complex systems. You will collaborate closely with engineers, scientists, and stakeholders to translate functional requirements into practical engineering solutions.

Beyond new designs, you will own the technical roadmap for improving the quality, reliability, and performance of existing tools. You will also lead initiatives to elevate engineering excellence across the team, driving process improvements, best practices, and knowledge sharing. A key part of this role is working closely with suppliers to ensure quality, schedule, and alignment with technical requirements.

This is a hands-on role for someone who combines deep UHV expertise with strong system-level thinking, project leadership, and the ability to influence and mentor others.
