Oracle Database Management

In this role, your primary responsibility will be the management and support of Oracle databases critical to Manufacturing operations. This involves troubleshooting, configuration, patching, and performance tuning of Oracle databases across multiple environments to ensure high availability, security, and compliance for mission-critical applications.

The ideal candidate will possess strong Oracle database expertise, scripting and automation skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving in a 24x7 operational environment!

As part of your responsibilities, you will be required to:

  • Install, configure, patch, and maintain Oracle databases.
  • Manage Oracle RAC, ASM, Data Guard, and related technologies.
  • Perform database migrations across environments and data centers.
  • Monitor database performance proactively and diagnose and resolve performance issues using database monitoring tools.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues promptly to minimize downtime during major incidents.
  • Perform capacity planning and participate in disaster recovery drills.
  • Collaborate with the Global team or Solution Architect on system or architectural changes to improve automation, performance, high availability, and scalability.
  • Update operational runbook documentation and other documentation for any changes in the environment.
  • Continuously improve operations through routine monitoring of system performance metrics and proactive actions.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts to streamline on-premises database operations.
  • Interact with systems administrators on Linux/Unix/VM operating systems issues related to databases.
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend emerging database trends and technologies
  • Providing on-call support and participating in major incidents.
  • Proficiency in automation using scripting languages like Shell and Python, along with configuration management tools like Ansible, is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal, written, presentation, interpersonal).
  • Self-motivation and the ability to work independently based on mentorship provided by managers.
  • Solid skills in decision-making, prioritization, and negotiation.
  • Willingness to attend meetings during non-business hours (up to one day weekly).
  • Ensuring SLAs for incidents and service requests are met with high quality.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Deep knowledge of industry-standard, enterprise-class best practices for managing large database environments.
  • Thorough understanding of high availability (HA), disaster recovery (DR), and storage technologies, including data replication.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience with large Oracle database environments across various DB technologies.
  • Experience with additional databases such as MSSQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and InfluxDB is an added advantage.
  • Experience with database backups/restores using backup systems such as Cohesity or similar.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Splunk.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field
