Design Engineer Intern

Micron Technology is a world leader in innovating memory and storage solutions that accelerate the transformation of information into intelligence, inspiring the world to learn, communicate and advance faster than ever.

Micron's Analog Core Functional Team accelerates the design of analog core subsystems for best-in-class NAND products. We focus on innovation and automation to optimize design cycles and deliver high-performance memory solutions.

As a Design Engineer Intern, you will work at the intersection of AI-enabled engineering productivity, EDA tool integration, and silicon design-cycle acceleration. You'll build software and data-driven workflows that reduce repetitive design work and improve turnaround time across schematic, simulation, layout planning, verification, and signoff readiness. This role blends Electrical Engineering fundamentals with Computer Science to create automation and AI-assisted solutions that help teams move faster with higher quality and fewer late-stage surprises.

Responsibilities

Build and maintain Python-based automation that interfaces with EDA environments to accelerate design tasks such as environment setup, corner execution, regression runs, and results packaging.

Develop tooling to improve design-cycle efficiency by reducing manual steps in schematic updates, simulation workflows, and review-ready documentation outputs.

Create data pipelines for waveform, trim, and characterization datasets, enabling fast querying, labeling, and trend analysis for design decisions and debug.

Apply ML/AI techniques (e.g., classification, clustering, anomaly detection, regression) to identify patterns in design/verification data and recommend actions that reduce iteration count.

Prototype AI-assisted utilities that support engineering workflows such as: automated generation of configuration files/test templates, results summarization and comparison across revisions/corners, predictive checks to flag risk areas early (coverage gaps, corner sensitivity, unexpected deltas)

Collaborate with multi-functional teams (design, verification, CAD/flow, layout) to integrate tools into real workflows and track measurable improvements in cycle time and quality.

Minimum Qualifications

Actively pursuing an MS in Electrical Engineering OR BS with 3+ years of experience (graduation date not prior to Dec 2026).

Strong coding skills in Python (plus Bash/Tcl a bonus), and comfort working with structured data (CSV/JSON/SQLite) and version control

Experience with EDA scripting or APIs (e.g., simulation automation, netlist processing, batch runs) and building developer-friendly tools for engineers.

Familiarity with design flow concepts like PVT corners, pre/post-layout simulation, DRC/LVS, EM/IR, and signoff readiness.

Interest in AI applications to EDA and physical/analog design workflows (e.g., AI-assisted layout planning or design automation concepts)

Preferred Qualifications

Some understanding of analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuit design (op amps, DACs, ADCs, regulators, oscillators, bandgaps).

Familiarity with layout planning, matching requirements, and LVS/DRC tools.

Basic knowledge of industry simulators (VCS, HSPICE, Spectre).

Experience with Cadence tools and verification methodologies.

Strong circuit debugging and problem-solving skills.
