This is an opportunity to become a salaried UAW Analytical Lab Engineer at Central Laboratory. This is a full-time on-site position where the candidate will work as an expert resource for chemical-related issues in a laboratory environment. This is a union-represented salaried position. Central Laboratory supports: Global Product Development, Global Manufacturing Plants, Warranty Concerns, Environmental Regulatory Testing, Research.
What you'll do... The primary responsibilities for this position will be the analysis of automotive fluids and components to aid in material development and failure analysis. The candidate must have experience working with Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray Fluorescence (XRF), X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP), and other chemical analysis equipment. The candidate must have experience in automotive fluid testing including elemental analysis, Total Acid and Base Number, Viscosity, Fuel Dilution, and Oxidation/Nitration. The candidate must have experience in analyzing emission compounds via HPLC. Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering or similar degree. 1+ years of experience in Chemical Testing and Failure Analysis in an automotive domain. 1+ years of experience writing technical reports. Laboratory environment, standing, working at a lab bench for multiple hours. Also writing reports/emails from a desk/computer.
Even better, you may have... Master of Science in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering or similar degree. Maintain Analytical Instrumentation. Multitask and handle technical issues.
