Position Purpose

The Surgical Scheduler is an ancillary nursing team member who functions under the direct guidance of the Charge Nurse and Director/Manager of Surgical Services and Manager of Perioperative Services.

What the Surgical Scheduler Will Do

• Computer data entry activities including daily, monthly and yearly stats concerning all aspects of surgical procedures
• Ordering and checking in of all office supplies in the Surgical Services Department
• Building of the daily Surgical Services employee call schedule
• Scheduling of all procedures to be done in Surgery, Endoscopy, Outpatient, Infusion Clinic and Preadmission Testing
• Open and active communication with the surgery managers for coordination of block time scheduling and staffing needs
• Communicate and coordinate with surgeons' schedulers and pre-registration
• Interact with Inventory Coordinator for needed special equipment
• The Scheduler works directly with other hospital departments, ordering equipment, tests and needed maintenance along with coordinating patient needs
• Works directly with other hospitals and doctor offices obtaining accurate patient information to be entered into the computer to build a daily schedule

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum: Current High School Diploma or GED. Preferred: CNA or MA preferred

Related Experience Preferred: CNA or MA experience
