Shift: Days Part Time 16 hrs./week- Covering weekend, holidays and time off. The carts you will be transporting (clean & soiled) are about 600 lbs on average, 2 carts at a time. Loading the linen exchange carts requires lifting, bending and pulling 20 to 40 Lbs. of linen and at some of our hospitals have almost 40 carts to load daily. The position requires walking for long periods of time throughout the day. GENERAL SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Supervisor of Materials Management, responsible for supply of clean linen throughout the hospital. Responsibilities: Inspects, sorts, and folds clean linen as it is delivered, stores it on appropriate carts and delivers full sized linen carts to assigned Nursing units. Handles all phone requests for linen from the Nursing units in a timely manner. Deliveries clean linen to Nursing units in the afternoon as needed each day. Prepares, checks, sorts, and delivers clean linen orders to ancillary departments. Documents daily pars on departmental par sheets. Assists with the linen inventory. Completes mandatory competencies annually. Prepares new linen orders as needed. Demonstrates in all duties and responsibilities a warm, humanistic attitude toward patients, their families, visitors and associates of the hospital. Participates in a collaborative identification and reporting of patient safety issues. May enter daily linen data into Linen Helper Program as needed. Performs other duties as assigned. Specific Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Must be able to read, write, and follow written and oral instructions. Must have knowledge of various linen items used. Must be able to lift a minimum of 40lbs. and move a considerable amount of linen. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: High School graduate or equivalent is required.
