Technology Group Support
Provides support to the Technology group and works with technology planning and implementation throughout the Division. Provides guidance to the Division regarding technology issues, including SCADA, hydraulic modeling, Asset Management, process control, data, software applications, GIS and other related issues. Tracks and reports on technology issues that may impact the Division. Provides a technical/engineering perspective to all technology initiatives related to the Division.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Under the general direction of the Chief Technology Officer, will implement and oversee technology related initiatives within the Division.
- Interfaces with all software of the Division and provides technical expertise in the selection, design and installation of hardware.
- Responsible for operation and maintenance of the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system computers and related software.
- Under the general direction of the Chief Technology Officer, will prepare assigned budget(s).
- Under the general direction of the Chief Technology Officer, will plan, design, and implement Division information systems.
- Researches, identifies and recommends system improvements and changes to programs and/or procedures as appropriate to enhance the efficiency and reliability of information system operations and to assure adequate system capacity to meet future needs.
- Evaluates information security systems and applications and suggests enhancements.
- Under the general direction of the Chief Technology Officer, will determine future Division computer, network and telecommunication system equipment and accessory purchase needs and related costs.
- Coordinates and implements system upgrades, enhancements, and expansions.
- Under the general direction of the Chief Technology Officer, provides consultation and technical support to end users on selection and purchase of computer hardware and software.
- Provides training and/or coordinates assistance to end users on network operations and procedures and application of technologies.
- Under the general direction of the Chief Technology Officer, provides computer, network and telecommunication systems policies and procedures.
- Under the general direction of the Chief Technology Officer, maintains proper documentation on all aspects of Division management information systems.
- Under the general direction of the Chief Technology Officer, coordinates vendor bid and selection process as it relates to the purchase of new computer equipment and related services.
- Maintains current knowledge of new products and developments in the computer technology and telecommunications field that may affect the organization.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
Engineering, Computer Science or related Science degree with 10+ years of related experience in software implementation of SCADA and process control, and related software. Other computer skills that include Microsoft Office, SQL servers, Rockwell Automation software, GE, iFIX, ESRI GIS, networking and application programming, object-oriented methodologies, reporting tool development, database design, and cyber security. Significant experience in water and sewer modeling software and related hydraulic analysis of water and sewer systems. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. Interpersonal skills necessary to work with end users and external vendors in the resolution of a variety of computer issues. The incumbent is required to communicate technical information in non-technical terms.
