Wanted in Troy, Michigan to design automotive components and systems that meet customer performance and cost objectives, including improved production efficiency and energy savings. Provide technical support to both internal and external customers by completing progress reports and preparing presentations to discuss anticipated timing, scope of work, technological findings, and design changes. Report lessons learned during project execution and apply them to future projects. Ensure projects are being executed according to milestones, including communication and representation, project timing, efficient use of available resources. Research and analyze customer design proposals and specifications, along with manufacturing process and product quality requirements to determine feasibility of design and fabrication. Discuss and negotiate technical performance items with divisions and external customers. Conduct product research studies and data analysis to develop new metal processing for automotive components and systems. Direct testing activities for components and equipment under designated conditions to ensure operational performance meets project specifications with proven reliability. Coordinate fabrication and installation activities to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and specifications. Design of automotive components; work on research and development projects for design, development and release of automotive highly integrated systems along with manufacturing processes; determine feasibility of design and fabrication; communicate design concepts with CAE Engineers and evaluate CAE analysis results; provide design direction to CAD Designers and assist them in altering or modifying the design to obtain functional and operational performance; and use CAD tools, CATIA, Teamcenter Visualization, and Autodesk Inventor.
