Sales Engineer

We are seeking a dynamic Sales Engineer to join our team. This role involves responding to and generating Requests for Quotations (RFQs), presenting technical details to customers, and negotiating effectively. The primary focus is on cables, wiring, and audio components. Our company is expanding its U.S. operations and has recently partnered with a manufacturing company in Mexico.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and maintain relationships with customers worldwide.
• Conduct regular customer visits and manage customer interactions.
• Collect and analyze necessary information from customers, including model planning and strategy.
• Participate in customer visits, Kick Off Meetings, and audits.
• Handle all commercial issues from daily business operations.
• Support RFQ, development, tooling, and sample cost negotiation within approved conditions.
• Manage RFQ and offer processes according to internal procedures.
• Prepare RFQ packages and initiate the RFQ process.
• Support the entire RFQ process, including technical information management.
• Develop business opportunities with customers.
• Maintain price lists and program life cycle dates.
• Analyze portfolio information and automotive technical trends.
• Manage customer contract distribution and approval.

Essential Skills:

• 10 years of experience in technical sales within the automotive industry.
• Experience with electrical components, such as wire harnesses, cables, and audio components.
• Proven experience in responding to technical RFQs and managing them.
• Strong negotiation skills with customers.
• Experience in managing existing business and developing new opportunities.
• Ability to communicate effectively with internal departments and external customers.
• High initiative and ability to complete tasks independently.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• Experience in technical sales with Ford and/or GM is advantageous.
• Previous experience working as an engineer is beneficial.
• Proficiency in Italian is a very nice-to-have skill.

Work Environment:

Our work environment is a small office located in Lake Orion. The role requires attendance in the office 2-3 days a week, with remote work possible on other days. You will have the autonomy to work independently, set priorities, and possess an entrepreneurial mindset. Occasional travel to Europe for training and potential visits to Mexico and customer sites are expected, with a total travel requirement of approximately 20%.

Job Type & Location:

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Orion, MI.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $57.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
