Registered Nurse: Ambulatory Care Services (Pediatric Infusion)

Responsibilities:

  • The candidate will demonstrate the ability to organize and manage multiple interventions simultaneously.
  • The candidate will have excellent computer skills with proficiency in all Microsoft software applications.
  • The candidate will be expected to complete 12 Hematology/Oncology CEUs annually or maintain professional certification in oncology (CPHON, OCN, BMTCN, Infusion Nurse Certification, etc.).
  • They will participate in developing department goals and objectives by attending staff meetings and in-service programs, attending appropriate continuing education opportunities and staff development programs, and participating in quality improvement initiatives to support the implementation of change.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills using the nursing process, excellent problem-solving skills, and demonstrated ability to set priorities.
  • Demonstrated customer service, interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to build respectful relationships between units and individuals.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Expectations:

  • Demonstrated accountability and dependability including a good attendance record with punctuality.
  • Demonstrated adaptability to changing needs and priorities based on unit, department, and institutional goals/objectives.
  • Proficiency with typing and electronic health record documentation.
  • Ability to manage complex clinical issues utilizing assessment skills, protocols, and evidence-based interventions.

Required Qualifications:

  • A current license in the State of Michigan as a Registered Nurse.
  • At least one (1) year in the last five (5) years of intensive care unit experience, emergency room experience, or as a Registered Nurse in an infusion setting.
  • At least one (1) year of pediatric experience in the last 5 years.
  • One (1) year in the last five (5) years demonstrated proficiency with documentation in an electronic health record, e.g., Epic as indicated by interviews, references, and or performance evaluation.
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills as evidence by resume, annual evaluations, and references.

Desired Qualifications:

  • BSN
  • Demonstrate (1) year in the last five (5) experience administering chemotherapy and biotherapy, immunotherapy, cell and gene therapy, blood products.
  • Professional nursing certification (CPHON, BMTCN, or Infusion Certification preferred)
  • Demonstrated one (1) year experience in an ambulatory care setting.
  • Demonstrated one (1) year experience with ambulatory care infusion.
  • Demonstrated ability to start peripheral IV access.

Work Schedule:

  • 36 hours/week.
  • Day shift, Monday through Friday, 8- or 9-hour shifts, hours of operation 7:30-6:30 Flexibility is required. Weekend and Holidays may be required.
  • Location C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital 7th floor -Pediatric Infusion Center
  • All new employees will be expected to float to a designated unit(s) in times of low census.
