Proposals Engineer - Water & Renewable Energy

If you are an engineer with experience in control systems and/or process operations, Emerson has a great opportunity for you! We are looking to add a Proposals Engineer to our office in Cranberry Township, PA, Novi, MI, Chicago, IL, Houston, TX, or Charlotte, NC. You will own the creation of highly competitive, strategic, and develop project-specific proposals for the North America Water and Renewable Energy Proposals organization.

In this role, your responsibilities will be:

  • Prepare accurate, complete, and timely proposals in alignment with established quality processes and ethical standards.
  • Interpret customer specifications, drawings, and requirements to develop clear and technically sound proposal content.
  • Participate in customer site visits, walk-downs, presentations, and interviews to highlight Emerson's capabilities and value.
  • Apply process knowledge and product expertise to develop best-cost solutions that position Emerson competitively.
  • Develop bills of materials, technical compliance documents, layout drawings, and supporting proposal deliverables.
  • Accurately estimate project costs and identify risks, differentiators, and value-added opportunities.
  • Prepare pre-qualification packages and marketing collateral that support future business opportunities.
  • Collaborate with global teams—including sales, engineering, project management, and product development—to ensure proposal alignment.
  • Support negotiations with customers and prepare responses to inquiries or requested changes.
  • Review purchase orders for alignment with proposal content and complete associated order entry documentation.
  • Support both internal and customer kick-off meetings and contribute to proposal strategies that mitigate commercial risk and support profitability.

For this role, you will need:

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering or similar technical degree. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Minimum 5 years related experience
  • Knowledge of controls - PLC/DCS/SCADA
  • Knowledge of water and/or renewable energy industries
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future

Preferred qualifications that set you apart:

  • 10 years experience in control system engineering and proposals preferred
  • 10 years of water and wastewater treatment industry experience preferred
