P&C Commissioning Engineer

The P&C Commissioning Engineer will perform acceptance testing and pre-commissioning of protection and control (P&C) equipment in the factory using procedures set-forth by Systems Control and its utility partners. A day in the life includes applying protective relay settings and performing testing that validates proper function. Additionally, the engineer will apply RTU settings and verify status, metering, and control functions. Troubleshooting and problem-solving when deficiencies are identified, performing testing procedures and documenting the results completely, keeping up-to-date with utility industry trends and practices by attending relevant training opportunities, providing technical support to engineering, manufacturing, and test departments, identifying potential process improvements and collaborating with other team members, notifying designers and engineers of deficiencies identified during testing, and executing testing procedures that ensure elements of P&C design are properly applied and functioning as intended.

What will help you thrive in this role? A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent education and experience, minimum 1 year of testing electric utility P&C equipment, NFPA and OSHA safety certification or ability to become certified, commitment to continued education, training, and learning new tasks, familiarity with some electric utility industry testing and documentation requirements, general understanding of the operation, application, and testing of protective relays, understanding the importance of safe work practices associated with the electric utility industry, ability to incorporate human performance tools into daily work practices, familiarity with RTU point assignments and checkout, strong attention to detail with proven analytical and problem-solving skills, self-starter able to work both in teams and individually with limited supervision, familiarity with electric utility P&C schematic and wiring diagrams, and competent with Microsoft Office Suite programs: Excel, Outlook, Word.
