The MSUFCU internship program is designed to support interns in developing career readiness competencies as defined by NACE. Throughout the internship program, interns will gain hands-on experience and enhance essential skills that prepare them for success and career growth. Interns will have the opportunity to develop competencies in career and self-development, communication, critical thinking, equity and inclusion, leadership, professionalism, teamwork, and technology.
Work Location: Onsite; Headquarters campus in East Lansing, MI
Work Schedule: Part-Time approximately 15-20 hours during MSUFCU Office Hours (8:30am-5:00pm); A schedule will be determined around the intern's class schedule.
Paid Hourly Internship - $15.00+/hour
Duration: Spring Semester beginning January 7th, with potential to continue into future semesters
An offer of employment with MSU Federal Credit Union and affiliates is contingent upon the agreed work arrangement (onsite/hybrid/remote) and work location. MSU Federal Credit Union may or may not be able to accommodate temporary or permanent changes to work arrangements or allow employment outside the city and/or state of residency in which the new hire resides at the time of offered employment.
Assist in each payment function including ACH, bill payment and check processing
Work various exception reports
Process mailed payments
Assist in balancing checks received in the branches daily
Set up member ACH payment requests
Review check deposits daily
Work a Synapsys queue to provide resolution to other employees
Review and update process and procedural documents
Performing other payment related duties as needed
High school graduate or equivalent required
Actively pursuing Associate or Bachelor degree in related field of study
Demonstrates empathy and a commitment to providing superior member service

Physical Demands and Work Environment: May be required to remain in a stationary position for an extended period of time. Ability to operate standard office technology, equipment and tools, which may include many hours of computer and phone usage. Occasionally needs to move about inside of office area Exposure to potentially hazardous condition, i.e. robbery. Receives detailed instructions and procedures to be followed to minimize the exposure This position is able to work in hybrid or onsite working arrangements.
