Description

Responsible for designing, building and delivering a stable, secure, and efficient network, telecom, and storage infrastructure environment for our client's business operations. Dispenses technical advice, guidance, and direction to other IT team members to mentor and build depth with the team. You are to promote the interfacing and control of the organization's present technology and the dissemination of technical information throughout the organization. To be successful you will need to be a technology visionary and advocate.

The position will provide Architecture, Engineering and Administration duties of circuits, routers, switches, firewalls, Wireless, IDS/IPS, phone system, and other technical support functions to support business operations.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Experience design engineer aiding in the development and maintenance of technical standards and architectural blueprints.
  • Mentor to less experienced team members and others throughout the company. Be that advocate that can easily and willingly explain technical issues in non-technical terms.
  • Network LAN/WAN infrastructure design, implementation, and support including switches, routers and associated carrier services.
  • Voice system administration and support, including applications.
  • Maintain both highly secure business wireless networks and open public access networks for member/team member access.
  • Documentation of network infrastructure and standards and practices.
  • Installation, configuration, and maintenance of LAN/WAN infrastructure, network security, and servers
  • Troubleshoot, repair, maintain, install and perform testing on network peripherals, data communication and computer network systems. Assemble, install, configure and test units of LAN and WAN requiring use of standard upgrades/protocols
  • Maintain fiber, copper networks, and troubleshoot problems reported.
  • Install software, patches and upgrades for network hardware as needed to ensure security and stability.
  • Responsible for working with vendors to install low voltage cabling as necessary for projects, business growth, or employee moves.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on all data communication and/or peripheral equipment. Test and adjust to appropriate standards.
  • Attain and maintain a reliable technology infrastructure for the credit union that results in a high degree of information protection, ease of access, and integrity of member information, as well as maximizing the use of current technology to enhance internal business procedures.
  • Vendor Management including key relationships, contracts, and service level management.
  • Learn basic functionality of our financial system as it relates to networks, servers, call center and peripheral appliances.
  • Must possess strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be willing to perform 2nd level On Call responsibilities after hours and on weekends as part of a 24x7x365 on call support team.
  • Support the IT Operational processes, change, incident and problem.
  • Occasional after-hours work as necessary
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement and corrective action activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:

Bachelors' degree in a related field or the equivalent combination of education/certifications and experience.

Advanced Cisco knowledge consistent with CCNP certification. CCNP certification Preferred.

8+ years of progressive Network and Security experience.

Familiarity with Telecommunications services (MPLS, ISP services, voice services, etc.)

Expert knowledge of Routing, Switching, TCP/IP and DNS. Expert knowledge of routing protocols including BGP.

Expert knowledge of firewall systems, both stateful and stateless. Checkpoint Firewall experience preferred.

Knowledge of web filter and load balancer design, setup and support.

Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to team members and management of the organization.

Voice systems administration and support (VoIP, PBX, SIP, Queues, and Unified Messaging).

Candidate should have general (or administrative) knowledge of servers and how they integrate in with the network environment.

Ability to work under pressure and within specific guidelines.

Ability to manage multiple projects with multiple priorities, coordinates internal and external vendors, and communicates to management.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $57.00 - $67.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
