Mechanical Engineer Technician -- Inspection

Williams International Co, LLC has an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer Technician -- Inspection to join our team at our facility located at 2000 Centerpoint Parkway, Pontiac, MI 48341. The successful applicant will be responsible for all programming, program validation (tape-proof), conventional inspection duties, and responsibilities associated with Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) as assigned and will support, back-up, and mentor other CMM Programmers and team members as necessary. This position is 100% onsite; no remote or hybrid option is available at this time.

Specific Duties:

  • Conduct design/analysis assignments of complex products, analysis of engineering problems and development of significant criteria to support design concepts and feasibility.
  • Create and validate CMM programs, perform inspection and provide documentation for development and first run production tape proofs.
  • Create and validate CMM programs for all First Article Inspection (FAI) requirements.
  • Assist in the development of general engineering procedures and specifications relevant to engineering assignments.
  • Advise other Engineering & Production personnel regarding test requirements, procedures, product specifications, and the like. Assist in the evaluation of results.
  • Prepare layouts and/or make calculations related to product design and analysis. May assist in preparation of engineering computer programs and evaluation of program output applicable to design assignments.
  • Program CMM (SIP, LK, Etc.) inspection machines. Must be capable of creating and validating launch pad capable programs for production TMIs.
  • Participate in the preparation of engineering proposals by compiling or providing technical data, drawings, and the like. Prepare and submit various reports related to the assignment.
  • Prepare FAI packages which include all required documentation, inspection data, and update inspection data base as required.
  • Coordinate less complex engineering projects on a technical level and may estimate costs and schedules, developing design to meet specifications and liaison with other concerned activities.
  • Assist superior in performing engineering assignments involving Senior Engineering level of responsibility in any of the other engineering disciplines in order to become proficient in another area outside of the specialty.
  • Perform final inspections using a variety of inspection gauges as required.
  • Mentor others in the set-up and operation of CMM machines.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Degree (U.S. or Foreign).
  • Two years of experience inspecting and conducting measurements on turbine engine sub-assemblies.
  • Two years of experience creating, validating, and improving CMM programs for First Article inspection requirements.
  • Two years of experience utilizing Modus metrology software, NX software, and SAP.
