IT Service Specialist

Dow has an exciting opportunity for an IT Service Specialist located in Midland, MI or Houston, TX. This role:

• Designs, develops, and supports solutions and processes to meet business needs and requirements.

• Works in a business process, enabling, or implementation team, and applies general knowledge of Information Systems, which is typically developed through formal education.

• Leads several IT analysts through requirements and solutioning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage services balancing customer requirements with affordability, strategy, and technology trends.
  • Build trusted relationships with service stakeholders and drive adoption of services.
  • Develop new services to meet business needs and define deployment strategies.
  • Ensure security compliance in partnership with Information Security.
  • Maintain service descriptions, configuration, asset, and knowledge management.
  • Drive Event, Incident, and Problem Management for assigned services.
  • Enable corporate strategic initiatives as needed.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts and meet/exceed SLAs and client satisfaction goals.

Application platform technical requirements:

  • Strong knowledge and expertise in Windows system administration.
  • Active Directory experience (plus).
  • Linux administration experience (plus).
  • Strong experience in cloud environments (Azure).
  • Entra ID knowledge (plus).
  • On-premise and cloud deployment/upgrade experience.
  • Expertise in DevSecOps practices and toolsets (Azure DevOps, GitHub).
  • Experience with AKS/Containers, Visual Studio, Git, and CI/CD pipelines (plus).
  • Automation and scripting skills (PowerShell, Azure CLI, IaC templates).
  • Software lifecycle management experience.
  • Strong communication, troubleshooting, documentation, and time-management skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Development lifecycle knowledge; prior development background (plus).
  • Familiarity with C#, Python, or Java (plus).
  • Secure coding and vulnerability management knowledge (plus).
  • Networking fundamentals (firewall rules, etc.).
  • AI skills (building and using agents, MCP).
  • Continuous learning mindset to stay current with industry best practices.

Integration Platform technical requirements:

  • Familiar with SAP systems, ETL concepts, and common database and application integrations.
  • Ability and strong desire to be a technical leader and SME.
  • Basic understanding with common web communication protocols (HTTP/HTTPS, REST, SOAP, ODATA).
  • Knowledge of common authentication methods and certificates (SSO, OAuth, SAML, Basic, Keypairs).
  • Be comfortable learning and managing new technologies.
  • Aptitude to learn quickly.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.

Your Skills:

  • Cloud Computing: Ability to deploy, manage, and optimize services in cloud environments (primarily Azure), including service reliability, security compliance, and support of hybrid on-prem/cloud systems.
  • Integration Services: Skill in designing and supporting integrations across SAP, APIs, databases, and enterprise systems (e.g., PI/PO, BODS, ADF), ensuring secure, reliable data and application connectivity.
  • Systems Development Lifecycle (SDLC): Knowledge of structured processes for designing, transitioning, and operating IT services, including requirements gathering, solution design, deployment, and continuous improvement.
  • Security Awareness: Understanding and applying security practices such as authentication methods (SSO, OAuth, SAML), compliance requirements, and collaboration with Information Security to maintain secure services.
  • Communication: Ability to clearly exchange technical and business information, build trust with stakeholders, and collaborate effectively with analysts, engineers, and cross-functional teams.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree or relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E5 ranking or Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class or Sergeant OR 5 years experience in lieu of a bachelor's degree.
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
  • Note: relocation assistance is not provided with this position.
