Heavy Equipment Operator

We are seeking a dedicated Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team, tasked with transporting salt and other materials within the mine. This role involves loading, hauling, and unloading materials efficiently while strictly adhering to safety regulations and operational procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Move materials using heavy equipment underground.
  • Transport salt across the mine using heavy equipment.
  • Inspect finished products to ensure they meet required specifications.
  • Assist the maintenance department with preventive maintenance on equipment when needed.
  • Operate a forklift and other heavy equipment to move salt throughout the mine.
  • Complete assigned paperwork accurately for specific customers/orders.
  • Perform daily housekeeping tasks.

Essential Skills:

  • Experience with Heavy Equipment Operating, including excavators, dump trucks, and haul trucks.
  • A safety-conscious mindset with a 'see something, say something' attitude.
  • Comfortable working underground for the majority of the shift.
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs repetitively during a 10-hour shift.
  • Steel-toed boots/shoes are required.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • Long-term Heavy Equipment Operating Experience within a Mine setting is preferred.

Upon joining, candidates are eligible for a merit-based raise and a 13% monthly incentive and attendance bonus after a 120-day probationary period. We offer BCBS benefits, with the company covering 80% of the costs, and eligibility for a monthly bonus program. A 4% match for 401K is available once direct, alongside holiday, vacation, and sick pay after 90 days. Additionally, there is a 60 cent shift premium for the 3rd shift.

Work Environment:

This position is located 1100 feet below ground in a salt mine that feels more like a large warehouse rather than a cramped cave. Candidates should be prepared to work in varying temperatures and conditions, as the environment is both outdoors and underground. The shifts are structured as follows: 1st Shift is Monday to Friday from 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and 3rd Shift is Sunday to Thursday from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM, with a minimum of 50 hours per week and occasional Saturday work.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $46384.00 - $47632.00/yr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
