Fire Sprinkler Service Level I Life Safety Technician

We are looking for a fire sprinkler service level I life safety technician to perform inspection, testing, service, and repairs of fire sprinkler systems and related components. This includes confirming compliance with applicable life-safety and fire-safety requirements as mandated by standards and codes, manufacturers requirements, federal, state and local ordinances, customer requirements, and the expectations and requirements of the company. This is a fast paced and demanding role with high visibility within the company.

What you will be doing includes performing inspection and testing of all types of fire sprinkler systems at the required frequencies in accordance with the requirements and instructions contained in NFPA 25. Troubleshooting and performing service and repair of fire sprinkler systems such as fire pumps and related components is part of the role. Recording and documenting all inspections, repairs, discrepancies, and recommendations either electronically or manually is required. Maintaining a good positive relationship with the customer and passing on information to the appropriate personnel for follow up, quotes, questions, or concerns is necessary. Maintaining the vehicle in a clean and orderly fashion, keeping it stocked with parts, equipment, and supplies necessary to perform the job is also required. Maintaining equipment and tools necessary to safely perform the job, evaluating customer sites for additional equipment and services that customers may require, working in compliance with the company's safety program, performing on-site and/or off-site (phone) emergency troubleshooting of sprinkler systems, and testing backflow prevention devices as required by NFPA 25 and state and local codes are part of the job. Separate certification requirements may be necessary based upon the jurisdiction. Discussing deficiencies noted with the customer, explaining the problem and its resolution, and being comfortable with heights, working on ladders or lifts, or in confined spaces is required.

Qualifications include a minimum of 6 months of technical experience with aspects of plan preparation for water-based fire protection systems, including preparation and compiling of CAD drawings, including layout of sprinklers, and assisting in field surveys. The ability to calculate basic math including fractions, decimals, and percentages is required. The knowledge and ability to understand and operate basic computer functions, operating systems, and software applications such as Windows, Word, Apple IOS, Android, and Outlook, in addition to learning and using industry-specific devices and software, are necessary. A valid U.S. driver's license is required.
