Field Service Technician

Kolene Corporation is looking for a great person that wants to work for a good company to fill an immediate opening as a Field Service Technician. The position requires some travel (some jobs are 1-2 days but could be 1-2 weeks). When the department is really busy there could be travel during most weeks, or you could have a couple weeks working in the office, with occasional visits to our Roseville shop. On average, our Techs spent almost half their time traveling last year, and when you are not traveling you would work in our Detroit office. Occasional work may be necessary in our Roseville location. Kolene designs and builds large industrial equipment for the government, steel mills, aerospace industry, and many others. This is neither an IT role nor a desk job. The position is hands-on, performing preventive maintenance inspections, pump-outs, and service calls, plus helping to start up new equipment and train customers on proper use and care of their equipment. Most of this work is performed at customer sites in other states; work is also performed on our in-house equipment and a couple closer customer sites. When not traveling, service techs are afforded maximum flexibility in their work schedule to offset travel inconveniences, including travel days, last-minute scheduling of time off, and schedule flexibility of their standard 7.5 hour work day (37.5 hours per week). All travel expenses are paid by the company using your corporate card. Ideal candidates will be able to travel as needed to meet company goals and customer requirements. They will be quick learners with mechanical, electrical and combustion aptitude. Previous service experience working with large industrial equipment is preferred though not required; paid on-the-job training will be provided. They will be results-oriented with basic troubleshooting and excellent problem-solving skills. They will be self-learners who are able to think on their own when faced with operating problems in the field, with access to a support system having vast knowledge and experience when needed. They must demonstrate effective communication skills and be able to work well with internal and external customers. Basic software skills are necessary to generate and complete service reports. Candidates must possess a H.S. diploma or equivalent. Job requirements include possessing and maintaining a valid driver's license and current auto insurance, ability to pass a background check acceptable for our government contracts, and a forklift/PIT certification or the ability to achieve within 90 days of hire. Candidates should possess or be able to obtain a passport for possible international travel when needed. Top candidates must be able to successfully complete all safety training and be able to demonstrate safe practices at all times, including such training as lockout/tagout procedures and OSHA-24 Hazwoper. This position may require long periods of bending, stretching, kneeling, crawling, climbing, reaching, or overhead work. Other physical requirements include ability to lift up to 50 lbs., carry up to 25 lbs., and the ability to use muscles for extended periods without getting tired. Candidates must be able to tolerate wearing necessary PPE for long periods, sometimes working in hot/cold, dusty, small or confined spaces. The complete job description is available upon request. We work with chemicals so safety is a top priority in this position. We offer excellent benefits starting on your first day of work, including a choice of medical plans, dental, vision, Life/AD&D, FSAs, a significant contribution to your HSA account in conjunction with a HDHP medical plan, matching 401(k), annual profit bonus plan, paid holidays and paid time off, plus above-average short- and long-term disability payments. This position also receives a monthly car allowance and company credit card for business expenses which may include fuel.
