Field Service Engineer

The Service Engineer will be responsible for servicing all machines, including installation, training, warranty support, and post-warranty assistance both domestically and internationally. This role requires frequent customer interaction and project management for large-scale installations. Physical demands include bending, climbing, lifting, pushing, and pulling.

Responsibilities:

  • Install and perform machine acceptance, customer training, repairs, maintenance, geometric alignment, software updates, and retrofits of gear hobbing and deburring machines.
  • Interpret error messages and systematically troubleshoot and repair issues.
  • Provide customer contact and support via phone, email, and remote online communication.
  • Manage projects for large-scale automotive installations.
  • Identify spare parts through troubleshooting and inspection.
  • Cooperate in projects and provide technical support to the sales department.
  • Travel to customer sites to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical problems.

Essential Skills:

  • Experience in machine installation and repair, including CNC machines.
  • Mechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with Siemens 840D and Fanuc controls.
  • Ability to read mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, and hydraulic prints.
  • PLC Programming, specifically Siemens PLC.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work systematically and independently.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • Project management experience for large-scale automotive installations.
  • Industry experience or equivalent is preferred.
  • Associates degree in mechanical or electrical field is preferred.
  • Trade school or vocational training is desired.
  • Knowledge of feed/speed rates, spindle speed, and machine parameters.
  • Understanding of spindle and axis drives on CNC machines.

Work Environment:

This is a remote position with significant travel (50–100% within North America and occasional trips to Europe). A valid passport is required. The role offers a daily tax-free per diem, phone allowance, and vehicle allowance, with the potential for a company vehicle in the future. Job Type & Location:

This is a Permanent position based out of Farmington Hills, MI. Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $85000.00/yr. Eligibility Full-time employees working 30+ hours per week are eligible. Coverage begins the first day of the month following 30 days of employment. Enrollment must occur within 30 days of eligibility or during Open Enrollment unless there's a qualified status change.
