Electrical Application Engineer - Fenton, Michigan

We are currently seeking an Electrical Application Engineer to work in our Flex Air Division at our Copper Ave Location in Fenton, MI.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Ensure that the policies, procedures, and integrity of the company are carried out in a manner consistent with the goals and objectives, as set forth by Executive Management.
  • Utilize engineering principles to perform various tasks in the design and application for our various products with an eye on manufacturability.
  • Create material take-offs and cost estimates, design layouts, single line schematics, and submittals for all new opportunities to determine costs for the following:
    • Low, Medium, High Voltage Electrical Power Systems for Custom AHU's, Modular Switchgear rooms, Modular Electrical Skids, Central Utility Plants, Chiller/Boiler Plants, and Pump Houses.
    • Understanding DDC/PLC controls is a plus, but not required.
  • Analyze and interpret electrical specifications, drawings, and other pertinent project documentation.
  • Prepare preliminary electrical designs and drawings as required.
  • Develop and write scope of work for electrical systems, documenting clarifications/exceptions to bid documents.
  • Review project bid documents with internal estimating group to ensure accuracy and timeliness of quotes.
  • Support of project management and estimating of change orders as needed.
  • Study and keep current with programs, manufacturing processes and technical developments in all industrial markets.
  • Identify and ensure material pricing is accurate to the application, and up to date before issuing to Sales.
  • Assist in development of Value Engineered concepts.
  • Help create and communicate company electrical standards with engineering and manufacturing.
  • Coordinate with engineering, production, and management to cost all None-Core opportunities.
  • Investigate equipment failures, and/or faulty operations or design, and make recommendations to fix the problem and update standards for the future.
  • Utilize test equipment and follow/implement procedures for testing our products.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to clearly interact with our employees, customers.
