What You'll Do as a DSP:
Every day looks a little different, but your role is to provide care, encouragement, and opportunities for independence. You'll support individuals with:
- Safety & Wellbeing: Ensure a safe environment, assist with crisis prevention, and provide hands-on support when needed.
- Daily Living Skills: Help with activities like cooking, dressing, bathing, transportation, and communication to build independence.
- Health Support: Monitor wellness, attend medical appointments, promote positive behavior, and follow care plans.
- Community Involvement: Encourage social activities, volunteering, employment, and educational opportunities.
- Relationships & Social Life: Foster trust, friendship, and connection---whether it's attending a movie night, community outing, or simply being there to listen.
About You:
You don't need prior caregiving experience---what matters most is your heart for helping others. If you are compassionate, reliable, and eager to learn, you'll be a great fit!
- High school diploma or GED required
- Valid State of Michigan driver's license
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to complete CPR/First Aid certification (paid training provided)
- Basic computer skills for documentation
