Chartwells K12's goal is to make sure students leave the cafeteria happier and healthier than they came in, by serving food kids love to eat and creating custom dining programs. With more than 16,000 associates in 4,500 schools, ranging from large public institutions to small charter and private schools, Chartwells K12 is built on decades of food, education and operational experience driven by top culinary, nutrition, wellness, and sustainability talent.
We're looking for a passionate Director of Dining Services to oversee food operations across two dynamic school districts—Ishpeming Public Schools and Negaunee Public School Districts (just 3 miles apart)—serving a combined enrollment of 2,150 students across 6 buildings in scenic Michigan. This isn't just a job—it's a chance to transform school dining into a daily experience that fuels learning, builds connections, and supports student success. From breakfast programs to summer feeding initiatives, you'll be at the heart of a purposeful operation that follows NSLP compliance and supports a diverse range of food programs. In this role, you'll lead a dedicated frontline team of 16 Chartwells associates, collaborate closely with school leadership, and bring creativity and care to every meal served. The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator, confident in problem-solving, and capable of working independently while demonstrating solid financial acumen. They'll be excited to implement Chartwells' signature programs—Mood Boost, Student Choice, Discovery Kitchen, and Global Eats—to enhance student engagement and elevate the dining experience. With strong, long-standing district partnerships already in place, you'll have the support and tools to build memorable moments for students and staff alike. There's also potential for catering opportunities, allowing you to showcase your culinary flair beyond the cafeteria.
