Devops Engineer

Embedded DevOps Position

The Embedded DevOps is seeking a high-level technical expert responsible for designing, owning, and continuously enhancing enterprise-grade DevOps platforms on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). In this role, you will lead cloud-native CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, and containerization strategies that support multiple engineering teams and production environments. This team supports all in-vehicle cloud software, including the build and release of ECU code for automotive systems. While the role supports embedded development teams, this is not an embedded engineering position. Instead, it requires a DevOps professional experienced in enabling and optimizing build and release workflows for embedded developers. This is a high-level, hands-on engineering role, requiring deep technical expertise, architectural vision, and proven experience running production systems at scale.

Key Responsibilities:

• Own, design, and evolve DevOps platforms across the full software lifecycle—from source control to production delivery.
• Operate, configure, and troubleshoot production-grade Cloud Run services, including IAM, security, load balancing, networking, and artifact management.
• Architect, deploy, and maintain high-availability Jenkins controllers, including version upgrades, plugin governance, and secure pipeline execution.
• Design and manage dynamic Jenkins build nodes on GCP to optimize scalability, performance, and cost.
• Develop, maintain, and debug reusable Terraform modules to standardize infrastructure deployments.
• Lead container build, versioning, promotion, and registry management strategies using Artifact Registry.
• Improve deployment reliability, security posture, and release velocity through automation and DevSecOps practices.
• Diagnose and resolve complex CI/CD, infrastructure, and cloud-runtime issues in production environments.
• Serve as a subject-matter expert, influencing DevOps standards, tooling decisions, and best practices across engineering teams.

Required Technical Expertise:

Google Cloud Platform (Advanced):

• Google Compute Engine: VM provisioning, debugging, Packer image creation
• GCP Load Balancing: configuration, optimization, troubleshooting
• Artifact Registry: container image lifecycle management

CI/CD & Automation:

• Jenkins: Deploy and maintain highly available Jenkins controllers, manage plugin lifecycle and upgrades, implement secure, scalable CI/CD pipelines, provision and manage dynamic GCP-based build agents

Infrastructure-as-Code:

• Terraform: Develop modular and reusable Terraform code, troubleshoot provider, state, and deployment issues, integrate Terraform with CI/CD workflows

Containers:

• Build, secure, version, and deploy container images, promote artifacts across environments using automated pipelines

Preferred / Additional Expertise:

• Cloud Run: design, scaling, security, and debugging of production workloads
• GKE: namespace management, Helm deployments
• Advanced GCP Networking: proxies, NEGs, load balancers, connectivity debugging
• DevSecOps practices, IAM hardening, compliance-focused CI/CD

Experience Requirements:

• 7+ years of professional experience in DevOps or platform engineering
• Proven ownership of production CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure
• Experience guiding and standardizing DevOps practices across multiple teams

Job Type & Location: This is a Contract position based out of Dearborn, MI.

Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $73.00 - $73.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
