The GM Defense Architecture Systems Engineer is an advanced engineering resource that will work on engineering definition of incoming projects into GM Defense (GMD). The Architecture SE will work on new defense opportunities that the business development arm of GMD brings forward for analysis. You'll be responsible for the advanced system integration in a fast-paced environment on government programs and special projects. This role requires a combination of technical theory and hands-on skills with the confidence and ability to be self-directed in a small team environment. This person will focus on the advanced concepts/activities for potential deployment to one or more of GM Defense's future vehicle platforms. This role will work with architecture SE's from multiple domain areas to develop the entire vehicle design solution that meets the requirements of the Business Development proposal. In addition, key engagement is expected between the internal product owners and vehicle program management.
We are seeking Architecture Systems Engineers for domain areas with priority in the areas of Thermal Arch. Systems Engineering.
Technology selection and supplier partnering for advanced Systems
Reducing government vehicle requirements into system solutions
Defining architecture to support GMD applications
Work with design team to package components and support design studies as required to meet customer requirements.
Help create vehicle strategies off "commercial-off-the-shelf" and "newly created" system components that maximize performance and minimize investment
Supporting early advanced system architecture development and integration.
Adhere to all ITAR requirements (International Traffic in Arms Regulations).
BS / MS in Engineering or equivalent
Plumbing and heat exchanger design experience (High and Low temp coolant, Refrigerant)
Deep understanding of Fluid flow theory and principles (liquids/gases)
Domain specific experience aligned with Arch SE role (fluid flow/heat transfer/hardware)
Advanced/Execution DRE, VSE and/or Architecture experience
Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to work with cross functional teams
Extensive level of analytical ability where problems are unusual, difficult or complex.
Demonstrated ability of "dealing with ambiguity" to enable timely decision making.
Thorough understanding of manufacturing processes.
Strong understanding of engineering operations, processes, and best practices.
Candidate must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, asylee or refugee).
6+ years of engineering experience
Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) cooling strategy knowledge
CFD experience using Star CCM+ and GT Power
Knowledge of Mil-Std's (Military Standards)
Brazing design and methodology experience
Structural engineering experience
5+ years' experience in INCA, Vspy, and Simulink
MS in Thermal and Fluid Mechanics or equivalent
DFSS Black Belt certification
Vehicle Launch Experience
MPG Level 2 driving + trailer license
Military/Defense Industry experience
