The Die Mold Applications Engineer leverages advanced technical expertise to design, plan, and coordinate the integration of machinery, equipment, and processes into customers' manufacturing operations. This role evaluates customer requirements and aligns them with company products and peripheral technologies to deliver innovative, high-performance application solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical & Application Engineering
  • Analyze customer part geometry to determine optimal processing strategies, including tooling selection, cutting time, and surface finish.
  • Develop, write, and edit toolpaths; create new machining processes.
  • Design and procure equipment required to execute custom and general presale cutting demonstrations.
  • Document demonstration results for use in future sales efforts.

Customer Support & Value Delivery

  • Provide ongoing post-sale applications assistance, including on-site customer visits.
  • Partner with distributors to leverage resources and knowledge.
  • Offer consulting services and identify value-added opportunities beyond warranty periods.

Collaboration & Solution Development

  • Collaborate with third-party suppliers to jointly develop solutions for customers.
  • Provide technical insights to marketing, sales, and engineering teams.

Presentations & Events

  • Support machine tool shows with live cutting demos and technical discussions.
  • Create and deliver presentations for events such as open houses, trade shows, webinars, and customer visits.

Continuous Improvement

  • Recommend new or improved procedures to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Stay current on industry developments through training, seminars, and meetings.

Qualifications

  • Self-motivated with strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to represent the company professionally.
  • Strong documentation and written communication abilities.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
  • Advanced technical knowledge and creative problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong rational decision-making and project management skills.
  • Associate degree in a technical field or completion of a mold-making or tool-and-die apprenticeship preferred.
  • Advanced CNC knowledge required.

Preferred Competencies

  • 3D CAD modeling
  • 2.5-axis, 3-axis, and 5-axis CAM processing
  • Mold process and construction knowledge
  • Milling machine cutting applications
  • Familiarity with mold industry materials
  • Awareness of leading CAM vendors
