Michaels Energy Entry-Level Engineer

We're looking for entry-level engineers who are passionate about energy conservation AND have the technical chops to tackle energy cost-saving projects for all types of buildings. In this role, you can use that passion to help building owners, utilities, consultants and partners save energy and lower utility bills. Client and customer communication is also very important in this role. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Gathering building info through visual inspection, chats with the customer/operator, taking photographs, and through measuring and data logging.
  • Energy studies, building investigations, collecting and analyzing crucial data preparing reports to show customers where they can save energy.
  • Review custom energy calculations.
  • Perform custom energy analysis for all types of commercial and industrial systems such as HVAC, chilled water, industrial refrigeration, and compressed air.
  • Measurement and verification of energy savings, data analysis, and reporting.
  • Communication with clients and third parties to gather information necessary to complete projects. Types of communication include meetings, presentations, and non-technical and technical writing.

After 3 months, you will have….

  • Learned company processes and procedures
  • Completed multiple custom energy analysis
  • Completed at least one site visit

After 6 months, you will have….

  • A thorough understanding of the design and guidelines of the programs
  • Completed multiple site visits independently

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical, Chemical, Architectural, or Energy Engineering
  • Proven strong academic background in thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid dynamics
  • Excellent oral, written, and analytical skills
  • Passion for energy conservation
  • Ability to travel nationally up to 50% to customer site visits and occasional travel to the corporate office

Additional Qualifications

  • Master's in Energy Engineering
  • Engineer in Training (E.I.T.)
  • Data Analysis

Chicago, IL, Denver, CO, or Richmond, VA. You will have the option to work in the office, work from home, or hybrid.
